Doking XD - first Croatian electric car

Doking XD is the first car completely designed and created in Croatia. The name is simply XD. It is going to be powered with litium-iron-phosphate battery which is expected to last up to 250 kilometers until you need to charge it again.

This makes it true green car.

It is long just 260 centimeters, making it ideal car for the city. The interesting part is that it was designed completely on a PC at home of one designer. Company Dok-Ing which is behind this car didn't have entire designer department and several extremely powerfull computers and laboratories which is normal in car industry, but just one man, Igor Jurkić.

Igor Jurkić designed XD all by himself on his personal computer, but didn't want to disclose information about which software he used. He is experienced car designer who worked on several Opel car models (Astra, Corsa and Zafira), Porsche Cayene and Mercedes ML class. He combined his experience with several softwares and created a car without huge development team, making it really cheap for investors.

As for Dok-Ing company, they already have partners for building electrical engines for the car with 45 kWh and 600Nm, which is Tema from Pula. Chasis will be done by Eko-Medjimurje. At the moment only non-croatian part will be the car battery.

The problem is - there is no car asembly plant in Croatia, and huge money is needed to build it, so they need investors.

Expected price will be around 10000€ if it is going to be produced. Because it is entirely ecologicaly friendly, part of the price is expected to be paid by the government.

First operational prototype should be available by the end of 2009 (via Jutarnji)
